Ranchi: The Jai Mata Di puja organisers have put up statues narrating RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s kidney transplantation at its puja pandal near Namkum railway station.
Lalu’s daughter Rohini had donated her kidney to the RJD supremo to save his life.
The pandal has Lalu and his daughter’s statues lying adjacent to each other in a hospital. The RJD state general secretary and puja organiser, Manoj Singh, said he chose to put up Rohini’s statue to portray a daughter’s selflessness at a young age.
“The theme of our pandal is that women are no less than men. They are forms of Goddess Durga and people should respect their daughters and daughter-in-laws. The slogan of ‘beti bachao, beti padhao’ should be followed,” he said.

With rituals and functions beginning from Sasthi, organizers are unable to leave their complexes during the puja days. Some managed to visit a few pandals before the actual puja days, while others will try to catch up with friends and visit other pujas after immersion. The focus is on managing the celebrations within their own complexes.
